Hand drumming and rhythm classes and workshops for healing, entertainment and corporate team building - Rhythm dot com

Rhythm Dot Com was created in 2001 after a trip to Hawaii to learn drum circle facilitation skills.
This experience prompted Jaqui Barrett to combine her two passions, wellness and drumming, and to develop therapeutic drumming programmes suitable for the New Zealand culture.

Jaqui’s career over the past 25 years include positions as probation officer (Justice Dept), registered counsellor (MNZAC, Family Court), psychotherapist, group facilitator and trainer.

Her drumming experience of 15 years includes playing with AKSamba, a popular Auckland drum and percussion group, since 2002 (www.aksamba.org.nz) and with a number of local African, Latin and Middle Eastern style groups.
International teachers and influences include Arthur Hull, Mohamed Bangoura and Chris Berry along with many respected local teachers.

Over the past 10 years Jaqui has created programmes and facilitated therapeutic and training workshops in hospitals, special needs schools, rehab units, rest homes, preschools, A&D centres and prisons. She is an accredited DrumBeat facilitator - a lifeskills programme for youth.

She regularly gives presentations to community and professional organizations and facilitates team building  and conference interactive events within the corporate and professional sectors.
